Helping those who need it

Food Insecurity hurts the most vulnerable in our society and together we can help fight it.

Partners For All is an initiative to give back to members of our community in need of essential food items.

Food insecurity is a real issue that affects all of us

For many, it is hard to believe that in a developed country like the U.S., food insecurity can be much of a problem. In reality, more than 37 million Americans struggle with hunger, including 11 million children. More than 38 million Americans live below the poverty line, with most of those families earning less than $25,750 a year.

Being food insecure means having a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life, according to the USDA. Having enough food to live and function is a fundamental right for every human being, and should not be in jeopardy.

Within the U.S. some groups are more vulnerable than others, as the USDA reports more than 22% of Hispanic households, 5.3 million seniors, and 1 in four African American children as being food insecure.

Our Goals

We want to spread awareness about Food Insecurity and try to alleviate some of its effects. Our goal is to work with as many local community organizations as possible to reach as many people as possible. For instance, we plan to hold several fundraisers a year to spread our impact and donate all proceeds to those who are food insecure.

Food insecurity in light of the pandemic

With the COVID-19 pandemic, vulnerable communities are facing unprecedented challenges, and food insecurity has been on the rise. According to Feeding America, more than 50 million people may experience food insecurity due to COVID-19.

COVID-19 has pushed poverty and job insecurity to a breaking point for many families.

With millions of Americans having filed for unemployment or taking a pay cut due to reduced hours and demand for their work, more than one in six adults reported having gotten food from a food bank or organization. The crucial role that local organizations play in combatting food insecurity and bringing aid to their communities has been highlighted during the pandemic, and now, more than ever, we must come together to help members of our community.

How can all of us help?

Partners for All’s goals are to work with local organizations, such as community food banks, and assist in increasing the awareness of hunger-related challenges faced by communities across the U.S. We hope to act as a clearinghouse for relevant information that addresses this pressing issue and have raised funds from our community to make a tangible impact. We urge you to do the same, whether by volunteering in any capacity available to you, asking friends and family to support the cause, or by donating yourself. We’ve provided links to reputable charities that value volunteers and donations in any and all forms. Please check back periodically for updated information and to see how you can help.

About us

The founder of Partners for All, Henry Chai-Onn, is a high school student attending Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire. Introduced to the issue of food insecurity in surrounding local communities at a young age, he first volunteered with Second Harvest Food Bank in elementary school. He hopes to motivate other students to embrace the challenge of addressing food insecurity. If you are interested in joining his efforts contact him at info@partnersforall.org.
